Five Israeli tank shells landed in an area adjacent to Palestinian
residential areas Saturday night, but no injury was reported, Palestinian
security sources and witnesses said. Residents of the northern Gaza Strip
town of Beit Lahya said five huge explosions were heard in the area and the
shells landed in an area very close to houses. The witnesses said Israeli
tanks renewed shelling eastern and northern Gaza Strip after militants fired
Saturday night three homemade rockets at towns in southern Israel. Earlier in
the day, Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas urged militants to honor a ceasefire
deal and immediately stop launching homemade rockets at Israel.
