Bolivian gov't blames travel agencies for citizen expulsion from France

The Bolivian government on Sunday blamed travel agencies for the expulsion of
20 Bolivian citizens from France, according to reports from La Paz. Last
Monday, 20 Bolivian travelers, who were heading for Spain's Madrid via
Venezuela's Caracas and then France's Paris, were sent back to Venezuela without
any explanations, said a report of the Bolivian News Agency. Weimar Pereira,
chief of the Venezuelan National Migration Service, said that should be the
fault of those travel agencies, which had sold tickets to the Bolivians without
guaranteeing the full legality of the whole trip. But both Pereira and
Bolivia's embassy in Caracas said most of the passengers had medical insurance,
money and hotel reservations required by the European authorities. Meanwhile,
another 49 Bolivians were prevented from leaving Caracas when they were boarding
Air France flights. Seven of them returned to Bolivia, and three others found
a way to continue their trip. Pereira said Venezuela supplied the Bolivians
with food and organized a chartered flight to take those detained in Caracas
back home together.
