Qassam rockets continues to land in Israel

Three Qassam rockets were fired at Israel from the northern Gaza Strip
this morning, and there were no report of injuries or damages, local daily
Yedioth Ahronoth said, citing Israli security officials. The report said that
two Qassam rockets hit the hothouses in Kibbutz Netiv Hasarah in the western
Negev, while the third exploded in an open area near Shaar Hanegev. The
rocket attacks came as the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) continued to target
Palestinian militant infrastructure in the Gaza Strip. Palestinian witnesses
reported an Israeli air strike attacked on a house in Rafah near the Egyptian
border early Friday morning, the newspaper said. IDF said that the building
contained the entrance to a tunnel, which was being used for arms smuggling,
adding that the residents of the area were warned to leave before the
attack. But there were no reports of casualties. On Tuesday morning, an
IDF soldier was killed in fire exchanges with the Palestinian gunmen when
operating in the Gaza Strip. Israel launched a large-scale operation against
the Palestinian militant groups in Gaza soon after militants attacked IDF post
and kidnapped a soldier in a cross border attack on June 25. Despite these
military activities and large casualties on the Palestinian side, IDF has been
unsuccessful in completely stemming rocket attacks against Israeli communities
bordering Gaza. It was estimated that about ten rockets in a week have been
falling in Israel over the last five months on average.
