Christmas traffic accidents kill 25 in Spain

Twenty-five people died in Spain over the Christmas weekend due to traffic
accidents, the General Traffic Directorate said yesterday. The past weekend
witnessed 20 accidents, in which nine people were seriously hurt and two
suffered minor injures. During the same period last year, there were 19
accidents and 22 deaths, three less than this year. Spain's police announced
a special operation which runs until Jan. 7 to help reduce accidents on roads.
It is estimated that around 8 million vehicles will use Spain's road over the
Christmas period.
