Police today found the body of a doctor after six days of his abduction in
Afghanistan's southern Helmand province, a local official said. The abductors
killed doctor Abdul Shakor and his bullet-riddled body was found Thursday
morning in Garsir district, provincial police chief of Helmand province Isa Khan
told Xinhua. Unknown armed men abducted the ill-fated doctor and his driver
when he was going to visit a displaced camp in the troubled province last week.
Later the abductors set free the driver. No group or individuals have claimed
responsibility and the official blamed the "enemies of peace", a term used to
refer to Taliban insurgents.
