Pakistan yesterday summoned Afghan envoy in Islamabad to foreign office
and conveyed shock and concern over the murder of a Pakistani national in
Afghanistan, the state-run Associated Press of Pakistan reported.
Chaudhry Ishfaq Ahmad, a Pakistani national, was killed in Chamtal district
of Afghan north province Balkh on Tuesday by two unidentified gunmen who
reportedly fled the scene on motorcycles after committing the dastardly act.
Authorities have conveyed to Afghan Charge d'Affaires in Islamabad that quick
and conclusive investigations and immediate arrest of the culprits are demanded,
according to the APP report.
Accordingly, Ishfaq Ahmad was working as engineer with a private Afghan
construction firm.
The government of Afghanistan has been asked to take strong measures for the
protection of Pakistanis working in Afghanistan, APP quoted a foreign ministry
press release as saying.
