A bus crash in northern Mexico has left at least 23 passengers dead and
injured 17 others, local media reported yesterday.
The bus, with 38 passengers and two drivers on board, was traveling at high
speed early in the morning when it slammed into a heavy truck on the expressway
17 km from the city of Juarez, close to the US border.
The collision and the subsequent fire left 23 passengers dead. The 17 injured
were taken to hospital and reportedly in serious condition. Authorities did not
rule out an even higher death toll.
The driver of the truck may have fled, as rescuers were unable to find him at
the scene of the accident, police said.
