One of the two "black box" recorders of the crashed Kenya Airways' Boeing
737-800 plane in Cameroon was found yesterday, the country's national
broadcasting TV station said.
The black box, which was found by rescuers, may shed light on the cause of
the crash, which might have killed all the 114 passengers aboard, the TV station
said.
No survivors have been found, but the body-recovery operation would continue
Tuesday morning although it had stopped for Monday night.
Only 21 remains of the victims have been found relatively intact due to
violent crash, the report said, adding that five passports and some belongings
of the passengers have also been found.
According to the report, some technicians of the U.S. Boeing company will
arrive in Cameroon on Tuesday to do some checkup and investigation as the
passenger plane is still in its term of insurance. The plane was put into use
six months ago.
Taking off at 00:05 am local time in the country's economic capital Douala
and due to arrive in Nairobi at 06: 15 am on Saturday, the plane crashed near a
village named Mbangabongo, close to Douala, with a crew of nine from Kenya and
105 passengers from 26 countries aboard.
