At least 39 people were killed in rain-related incidents yesterday in southern Pakistani port city of Karachi, Governor of southern Pakistan's Sindh province Ishratul Ebad confirmed.

According to detailed reports, many people died due to wall collapse, trees fall and electrocution, and authorities have ordered removal of all sign boards.

An earlier report of local Geo TV channel said at least 19 people were killed and over 50 injured.

The rains badly affected power supply and communication system, making people's life paralyzed in the metropolis.

Rain water also inundated many localities, causing traffic jam on main roads.

Heavy rains also disrupted local and international flights for Karachi, with several flights diverted to other places or were stopped at Islamabad airport.

Pakistan's rainy season usually begins in late June and lasts until September every summer.
