Pakistan successfully tests surface-to-surface ballistic missile

Pakistan today test-fired a surface-to-surface ballistic missile, local TV
channel DAWN NEWS reported. The launch was conducted by army strategic force
command at field training exercise, said the report. This is the first
training launch of the Hatf-VI, also called Shaheen-II, long-range
surface-to-surface ballistic missile, which can carry both conventional and
nuclear warheads, according to DAWN NEWS. The missile has a range of over
2,000 kilometers. The Shaheen-II variant is a ballistic missile which is the
longer range variant of Shaheen-I missile. It uses a two-stage solid propellant
motor and is Pakistan's largest and most capable ballistic missile. Shaheen-II
was successfully test-fired for the first time on March 9, 2004. Pakistan
successfully test-fired the Shaheen-II missile on Saturday.
