Six persons were killed and seven others injured in a missile attack in Pakistan's tribal region yesterday, according to private TV channel DAWN NEWS.

Suspected United States drones fired four missiles at Baghar Cheena area of South Waziristan tribal area bordering Afghanistan, according to DAWN NEWS.

Local people said that some foreigners were among the dead.

Pakistan's tribal areas have witnessed cross-border attacks launched by suspected US drones and scores of people including women and children have been killed. Pakistan terms such kind of attacks as a violation of Pakistan's sovereignty and has lodged a strong protest through different channels.

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the United States, Admiral Mike Mullen, arrived Pakistan on Tuesday and met with Pakistan's Chief of Army Staff, General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani and Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani yesterday.

Kayani conveyed Pakistan's concern and protest over the cross-border attacks launched by suspected US drones in Pakistan's tribal region.

"Mullen reiterated the US commitment to respect Pakistan's sovereignty and to develop further US-Pakistani cooperation and coordination on these critical issues that challenge the security and well-being of the people of both countries," a statement released by the US embassy to Pakistan said.
