18/9/2008 17:57

An service member with the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) was killed yesterday during a small-arms fire attack by insurgents in eastern Afghanistan, said an ISAF statement released in Kabul today.
However, it did not disclose the name and nationality of the ill-fated soldier in light of ISAF policy and adding the incident is under investigation.
The incident came on the same day when a bomb attack killed four soldiers of the US-led Coalition forces and one Afghan in eastern Afghanistan.
A total of 71,000 international troops, half of them US service members, are stationed under the leadership of NATO-led ISAF and the US-led Coalition forces in Afghanistan to stabilize security in the post-Taliban central Asian state.
Taliban-related violence and conflicts have left over 3,800 people so far this year in Afghanistan.
