S.Korea, Norway sign agreement on defense cooperation

South Korea and Norway today signed an agreement on defense cooperation,
calling for exchange of defense goods and related technologies, South Korea's
Yonhap News Agency said. The pact allows the two countries to provide more
detailed information on their weapons systems to each other, which can also be
viewed as a sign of an apparent start of meaningful deals, Yonhap quoted unnamed
South Korean official as saying. The agreement was signed by visiting
Norwegian Vice Defense Minister Espen Barth Eide and his South Korean
counterpart Kim Jong-cheon, the South Korean Defense Ministry said. The two
nations have no substantive exchange of defense goods currently, the Defense
Acquisition Program Administration, South Korea's sole defense procurement
office said. Yonhap said Norway was studying South Korea's T-50 supersonic
fighter jet and other weapons systems for a possible purchase.
