The cabinet of Japan's newly-elected Prime Minister Taro Aso was formally
launched late yesterday following an attestation ceremony at the Imperial
Palace.
Earlier in the day, Aso, chief of Japan's ruling Liberal Democratic Party
(LDP), was elected by the Diet as the nation's 92nd prime minister. And he
announced the lineup of his 17-member Cabinet at his first press conference as
prime minister.
"I have just appointed appropriate persons to the appropriate posts in the
cabinet," said Aso at the press conference.
"The new cabinet will not fail the expectation of the Japanese people," he
said.
And the cabinet will make the utmost efforts to win the general parliamentary
election, said the new prime minister.
