Pakistan's security forces began to conduct search operation at Islamabad
airport after an unknown person threatened to blow up Islamabad airport
today. An unknown person made a phone call at the Pakistan International
Airlines (PIA) head office in Karachi, saying Islamabad airport would be blown
up in a suicide attack at 12:40 pm local time today, local Geo TV
reported. Reports said security has been beefed up at the airport after the
suspected phone call. Pakistan is under increasing pressure of more suicide
bombings after Saturday's Marriott hotel blast in the federal capital. Two
suicide bombers rammed an explosive-laden dumper into the gate of Marriott
Hotel, killing 53 people and injuring 266 others on Saturday. Local media
quoted intelligence agencies as saying that several suicide bombers have entered
big cities of Pakistan and planned to launch more attacks.
