US embassy suspends visa services in Pakistan

The US embassy in Pakistan today suspended its visa and all other counsel
services over security concerns, said an embassy spokesman. "The embassy
temporarily suspended routine counselor services including visa services
beginning today," the spokesman Lou Flintor told reporters. "Emergency
services to American citizens services will continue to be available," Flintor
added. He said the embassy also warned the American citizens not to stay in
big hotels in Lahore, capital of eastern Pakistan's Punjab province, after
receiving a warning last night. The move by the US embassy came days after
Saturday's Marriott Hotel blast in the federal capital. Two suicide bombers
rammed an explosive-laden dumper into the gate of the Marriott Hotel, killing 53
people and injuring 266 others on Saturday. The British Airways also
suspended all its flights to Pakistan after the deadly blast.
