New York Governor David Paterson said yesterday that he will run in 2010 for
a full term in the office he has held since former governor Eliot Spitzer
resigned.
Paterson, the first Black American governor of New York, also launched a new
political Web site that solicits campaign donations for New York's first black
and first blind governor.
The site highlights Paterson's work since he took office on March 17. That's
when Spitzer resigned after being named in a federal prostitution investigation.
The Web site is headlined "Leadership and accountability in challenging
times." The Democrat represented Harlem for 20 years in the state Senate before
becoming lieutenant governor in 2006.
Paterson is also the first legally blind governor of any US State.
