13/10/2008 17:10

Thailand's police Chief Pol Gen Patcharawat Wongsuwan said today he was sorry that police's dispersal on protesters on October 7 resulted in deaths and injuries.
On occasion of the National Police Day today, the national police chief said he felt sorry about the incident on October 7, according to a report of local news network The Nation.
Two persons died and more than 400 others were injured tomorrow during bloody street clashes between police and protesters of the anti-government People's Alliance for Democracy.
Patcharawat then reminded the police to continue to work at their utmost, protect the royal institution and democracy, and be dependable for the public.
Meanwhile at the Royal Thai Police Headquarters on Bangkok's Rama I Road, about 500 people led by former Police Department director Salang Boonnag gathered at the main entrance to voice their support to the police.
Salang said he has not withdrawn the plan to take over Government House from the anti-government People's Alliance for Democracy and return to the government.
Salang said he could not bear to see Thailand losing its reputation.
