Suspected US missile attack kills 20 in Pakistan's tribal region

At least 20 people were killed in a missile attack launched by suspected
United States drones in Pakistan's tribal region yesterday, local newspaper The
News reported today. Suspected US spy drones fired missiles on an alleged
militant compound in South Waziristan tribal agency bordering Afghanistan,
according to a story filed by the newspaper on its website today. The
state-run Radio Pakistan reported that the US drones fired two missiles at a
compound near Ladha town along the Afghan border yesterday, killing at least ten
persons. There is no immediate confirmation about the attack from the
army. Pakistan's tribal areas bordering Afghanistan have witnessed an array
of cross-border attacks launched by the US and coalition forces based in
Afghanistan. Addressing a news conference at the Prime Minister's House in
Islamabad yesterday, Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani said the US attacks in
Pakistan's tribal areas were creating difficulty in the ongoing war on terror
and harming the government's efforts to eradicate the menace of terrorism. He
reiterated that Pakistan is a sovereign country and would protect its
sovereignty and territory integrity.
