Hamas: killing six people aims at disabling the dialogue

Islamic Hamas movement, which rules Gaza, today accused Israel of
disabling the Palestinian dialogue, due to start in Cairo in Nov. 10, by killing
six Palestinians in central Gaza Strip. Fawzi Barhoum, Hamas spokesman in
Gaza, made the accusation in a statement after six militants of Hamas armed wing
al-Qassam Brigades were killed overnight and this morning by Israeli gunfire and
warplanes airstrikes on central and southern Gaza Strip. Barhoum said in the
statement that the Israeli crime of killing six people and the incursion into
central Gaza "aims at disabling the national Palestinian dialogue due to be
launch in Cairo soon." Hamas security sources noted that last night, an
Israeli army force stormed an area east of the central Gaza Strip town of Deir
el-Ballah. Heavy clashes erupted between Israeli soldiers and Hamas
militants. "This aggression shows that Israel is not interested in the truce
and still insists to continue it against the Palestinians. It is obvious that
this aggression aims at poisoning the atmosphere before the dialogue starts,"
said Barhoum. On Nov. 10, Egypt is hosting a wider national Palestinian
dialogue to reach a reconciliation among Palestinian factions to end the
political split between Hamas and Fatah. It is the first armed confrontations
between the Israeli army and Gaza militants since a truce was reached between
Gaza militants and Israel, which was brokered by Egypt and came into effect on
June 19. Al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas armed wing said in separate leaflets that
its militants fired dozens of mortars and homemade rockets at Israeli army bases
and Jewish communities closed to the borders with the Gaza Strip. We will
never keep quite on any Israeli occupation violation and will "confront any
aggression on our people and on our militants," said the armed
group.
