6/11/2008 18:03

The first Generations for Peace Arab Camp concluded in Jordan with participants hailing it as a "great success", local daily The Jordan Times reported today.
At the closing session Tuesday evening, participants from 13 Arab League countries pledged to go to their home countries and "plant the first seeds for a global initiative that can make a real difference in spreading peace throughout the world."
The camp was organized by Generations for Peace, the global initiative founded in 2007 by HRH Prince Feisal, president of the Jordan Olympic Committee, to bring together youth leaders and train them to run peace programs using sport as the vehicle in communities divided by conflicts.
Youth leaders from Sudan, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain, Egypt, Libya, Lebanon, Algeria, Morocco, Syria, Palestine, Comoros Islands and Jordan took part in the intensive three-day camp.
Paralympics champions Maha Barghouti and Khitam Abu Awad joined the discussion and showcased their difficult start.
