New Zealand's opposition National party leads in opinion polls

New Zealand's opposition National party has a commanding lead over the
ruling Labor party in two political opinion polls published today. The Colmar
Brunton-TV One survey has National steady on 47 percent support and Labor on 35
percent, while the Green Party has risen one point to 9 percent. None of the
other parties reached the 5 percent threshold needed to enter the Parliament
without winning an electorate. ACT was on 2.5 percent, New Zealand First 2.4
percent, and the Maori Party 1.3 percent. The survey of 1,000 people has a
margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percent. In the TV3 poll, the National
party was on 46 percent, while Labor on 33.1 percent recording its lowest result
in that poll in more than three years. The Greens are on 9 percent, and none
of the other parties is above the 5 percent threshold. New Zealand First was
on 3.4 percent, ACT has risen to 2.8 percent and the Maori Party is on 2.7
percent. The poll of 1,000 voters has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.2
percent.
