Mexican President Felipe Calderon yesterday paid homage at a ceremony to
Interior Minister Juan Camilo Mourino and the other people who died in a plane
crash in Mexico City, and promised a thorough investigation into the
accident. During the ceremony to honor Mourino and other victims of the
crash, Calderon promised to make clear the cause of the accident. "As
President and friend of Mourino, nobody is more interested than me in the truth
and the cause of this incident," Calderon said. "We are working and will work
with transparency and responsibility in order to inform Mexican People exactly
of what had happened," Calderon added. He said that Mourino was "a great
intelligent man, loyal, promised with his ideals and passionate for
MexiCo" According to local media reports, Mourino was Calderon's favorite to
be National Action Party presidential candidate for the election in 2010. On
Tuesday the Lear Jet 45 airplane slammed into a busy district in Mexico City,
killing all nine people aboard, including Mourino and former anti-drug
