Three people were killed and 19 others wounded, including five Iraqi
security forces, by two roadside bombs explosions across Baghdad this morning,
an Interior Ministry source said. Three civilians were killed and 15 people,
including three policemen, injured when a roadside bomb detonated near a police
checkpoint in the Doura district in southern Baghdad, the source told Xinhua on
condition of anonymity. In a separate incident, another roadside bomb went
off near an Iraqi army dismounted patrol near the al-Zarzoor restaurant in
Baghdad western district of Mansour, wounding two soldiers and two civilians,
the source said. The blast also caused damages to several nearby shops and
civilian cars, he said. In both incidents, Iraqi security forces cordoned off
the areas to secure the scenes while ambulances evacuated the casualties to
nearby hospitals, he added. Violence still haunts Iraq though the US military
said earlier that the level of violence was at a four-year low. Militant groups
still seem to be capable of stepping up large scale attacks.
