Explosion hits funeral in NW Pakistan, 7 killed

An explosion took place when a funeral was going on in northwestern Pakistan today and at least seven persons were killed, local television reported.
The suicide blast occurred at a funeral in Islamia colony near Bannu road of Dera Ismail Khan city of North West Frontier Province, said private TV channel DAWN NEWS.
As a result, seven persons were killed and around 20 others were injured. The injured were shifted to the district hospital in Dera Ismail Khan for treatment.
The funeral procession was held for Shahid Iqbal, a Shiah Muslim who was shot dead by unidentified gunmen yesterday.
Shahid Iqbal was killed last night when he was returning home from work, causing sectarian tension in the city, the News Network International (NNI) news agency quoted police sources as saying.
The unknown gunmen men shot dead another Shiah cleric named Nazeer Naqvi this morning in the city. But no group claimed responsibility for the killings.
