Iran says Israeli partners in war to be punished
24/11/2008 10:46

Chairman of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Brigadier General Seyyed Mohammad Hejazi said that Iran would punish Israel's assistants in the war against the country, Iran's Press TV reported yesterday.

Iran has drawn up plans to take retaliatory measures against potential aggressors and their accomplices, Hejazi was quoted as saying.

According to Press TV, "if Washington assists Tel Aviv in a war against Tehran, its forces would have to use territories of the two US-occupied countries (Iraq and Afghanistan) or Bahrein where the US 5th Fleet is stationed."

The United States, Israel and their Western allies accuse Iran of secretly developing nuclear weapons, but Iran insists that its nuclear program is only for generating electricity.

Speculations has flared up that Israel might carry out a military strike against Iran's nuclear sites.

The frequent training mission of the Israel Air Force (IAF) has geared up for the possible conflict.

Commander of Israeli Air Force (IAF) General, Ido Nehushtan, has also said in a recent interview that his forces are "ready" to attack Iran's nuclear sites whenever Tel Aviv gives a green light.

Washington and Israel have consistently refused to rule out the possibility of military strikes against Iran over its refusal to halt its nuclear program.

Iran announced earlier this month that the country has successfully test-fired anew surface-to-surface Sejjil missile, which has a range of about 2,000 km.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad also warned that his country will give a crushing response to any invaders as it possesses new generation missiles that can reach US bases in the Middle East and Israel.

Tehran has reiterated the rhetoric that in case "any of its national interests come under attack by either the United States or Israel, its armed forces would target Israel and American bases in the region."
