Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari left in Islamabad today on a two-day
official visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to hold discussions with its
leaders on wide ranging issues. During his stay, Zardari will hold talks with
UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and other leaders, as well as
meeting heads of various private sector companies to seek greater investment in
various sectors particularly in energy, agriculture and infrastructure in
Pakistan. Adviser to Prime Minister on Textile Mirza Ikhtiyar Baig told the
state-run PTV that Zardari's first official visit to UAE would help boost the
existing trade and economic cooperation between the two brotherly countries
having common perceptions on various regional and international issues. He
said that the visit was aimed at boosting of Pakistan's relations with the UAE
with a focus on establishing a strategic and economic partnership between the
two countries. Ikhtiyar Baig said, "For Pakistani people in UAE, the
government would establish driving institutes where people will learn Arabic
language as well as driving, which would help create employment opportunities
for them. Now the government has to take different steps to revive the economy
including decreasing the budget deficit and inflation on priority
basis."
