Strong quake hits Japan's northeastern coastal areas

An earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale hit Japan's northeastern
coastal areas today, the Japanese Meteorological Agency reported. The focus
of the quake, which occurred at 12:11 pm (0311 GMT) following an earlier
magnitude 6.1 quake, was about 10 km under the sea at Sariku Oki off Japan's
northeastern coast, the agency said. No Tsunami warning was issued. There
were no immediate reports of casualties or damage to property.
