Bomb attack and violent incidents in Afghanistan's eastern province of
Khost claimed the lives of three Afghans and injured nine others, all civilians,
officials said today. In the first incident occurred in Nadir Shahkot
district last night, unidentified men threw a hand grenade into a civilian
house, killing two persons, including a woman, and wounding four children,
district chief Badiul Zaman Sabri told Xinhua. Moreover, unknown armed men
raided the base of a construction firm in Ali Shir district on the same night
killing one worker and injuring five others, Mujib Rahman the chief of the
district said. The firm, he added, was busy in constructing checkpoint for
police in area. Mujib Rahman put the attack on the "enemies of peace", a term
used against Taliban militants, but the outfit has yet to make
comment. Afghanistan has seen security deteriorating since the beginning of
this year as militancy and conflicts have claimed the lives of more than 5,000
people, with over 2,000 civilians, so far in the war-torn country.
