An Argentine judge yesterday ordered the arrest of three influential
foreign bankers, who were allegedly involved in a case that harmed interests of
Argentine investors. Judge Maria Romilda Servini de Cubria issued the order
against William Harrison, Berard Fahrolz and Lukas Muhlemann, who were former
directors of JP Morgan, Dresnder Bank and Credit Suisse respectively when the
BGN bank controlled by Rohm bothers collapsed six years ago. The three
bankers were representatives for their institutions in the BGN in 2002, which
illegally transferred abroad at least US$70 million. The judge said they had
refused to appear in court to testify in the BGN case. Prosecutors accused
Carlos and Jose Rohm of capital flight and financial fraud, and transporting
funds to commercial banks and firms in the Virgin Islands.
