Afghan forces yesterday found an ammunition depot of militants outside capital city Kabul and thus foiled a possible terrorist attack on the city, a press release of Afghanistan Defense Ministry issued in Kabul today said.
"Personnel of national army during their operation discovered a depot of ammunition containing several explosive devices including three anti-tank mines and thousands of bullets from Kariz Mir village of Shakardara district in Kabul province yesterday, " the press release said.
By discovering the munitions, the troops have foiled terrorists' design to carry on subversive activities and harm the people, it said.
Kabul has experienced several terrorist attacks so far this year and the bloodiest one was a car-bomb blast in front of Indian embassy that left over 41 dead in July.
Militancy and conflicts have claimed the lives of more than 5, 000 people so far this year in Afghanistan.
