12/11/2004 16:47

At least 16 people were confirmed dead and 147 others were injured after a quake measuring 6.5 on the Richter scale shook a small island in eastern Indonesia early on Friday.
The quake affected five districts on the tiny island of Alor in East Nusa Tenggara province, some 1,900 km east of Jakarta, reported Detikcom online news service.
Half of the dead were residents of Northeast Alor district on the island, a relief worker was quoted as saying.
Numerous concrete buildings collapsed and a main road was buried by landslide following the tremor.
