Two people in Indonesia's easternmost province of Papua were reported
dead in an earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale earlier on
Friday. The tremor also damaged the airport and caused cancellations of
flights from and to the town of Nabire in the province, located some 3,500 km
east of Jakarta, according to a report from the National Center for
Earthquake. It was the second strong quake shaking Indonesia in the last two
weeks. Another 6.4-magnitude quake struck the Alor island on Nov. 5, leaving
more than 30 people dead.
