Iraqi insurgents attack police station, 13 killed
28/12/2004 17:15

Insurgents attacked an Iraqi police station in Tikrit, north of Baghdad, killing 13 officers and wounding two others, police said.
The attack took place at about 7:30 a.m. (0430 GMT), when insurgents opened fire with different weapons at a police station in Saddam Hussein's home town, some 180 km north of Baghdad, the police said.
A US military spokesman could not confirm the incident saying he was unaware of it.
Insurgents have frequently targeted Iraqi officials and security forces whom they consider as collaborators with US occupiers.
