Police plane crashes in Papua of Indonesia, killing 14

A small plane of the Indonesian police crashed near the airport of
Indonesia's Sarmi regency of the easternmost Papua island in the early morning
of Tuesday, killing 14 people aboard. An officer of the public relations of
the police headquarters Aryanto Budiarjo revealed in Jakarta that the plane
was crashed when it was on duty while carrying 14 passengers and 4 staff of the
plane. He said the plane had made contacts with the tower at the airport
requesting for an emergency landing, but it crashed into the ocean only about
500 meters from the airport. The rest four were seriously injured. The reason
for the accident is still under investigation, said the
officer.
