Shanghai, June 28 : At the opening of Lujiazui Forum 2013, Yang Xiong, mayor of Shanghai expresses that with major changes on external environment, the development of Shanghai has switched from the rapid growth period to the stable increase period. We are soberly aware that Shanghai is in the key changing period of the old and the new, and we must switch the standpoint to the improvement of the quality and effectiveness of development, so as to vigorously promote the transformation of economic development mode, accelerate innovation drive and transform development. Finance is the core of modern economy, therefore, the acceleration of transformation of urban development calls for the demonstration, promoting and driving function of finance.

Facing future, the construction of Shanghai as an international financial center is standing at a new historic starting point. In accordance with national requirements, adhere to the intrinsic requirement of finance serving real economy, the development direction of marketization, internationalization and legalization, the idea of paying equal attention to financial innovation and preventing financial risks, and the working method of coordination of all parties and forming resultant force, Shanghai is to promote the construction of itself as an international financial center, strive to basically establish Shanghai as the center of global RMB innovation, trade, pricing and settlement till the year 2015, and basically establish it as an international financial center compatible with China’s economic strength and RMB international status by 2020.

The construction of Shanghai as an international financial center cannot go without active participation of enterprises and organizations.
