Shanghai, Anhui, Jiangsu, Zhejiang friends, Hello. I am Hanscom
Smith, Consul General of the U.S. Consulate in Shanghai. I began my tenure as CG
in September of 2014. Since then, I have had the opportunity to meet a
wide range of people, experience some of the grandeur of Chinese culture, and
to take in some of East China's natural beauty. What stands out to me most,
however, is the warmth and hospitality with which the Chinese people have
received me.
各位上海、江苏、浙江、安徽的朋友，大家好！我是美国驻上海的总领事史墨客。我去年9月开始在上海的任期，自上任以来，我有机会接触到华东地区各行各业的人，体验到当地丰富多彩的文化，也领略了华东地区自然风光的美轮美奂，而对我触动最深的还是中国人民的热情好客。
In 2014, we saw a deepening of people-to-people ties between our two
countries. And I am seeing this play out here in East China as more and
more people go to the U.S. to study, do business or travel. I also want to
extend my sincere welcome.

As I was born in the year of the ram, I am especially delighted to extend
a Spring Festival message: Wishing you and your family a happy and
