Dai Brocade, a kind of silk made by women of the Dai ethnic group, is an ancient traditional textile handicraft popular among the Dai people. Every Dai woman is good at weaving it. It is fa­mous for its exquisite weaving, elegant pattern, bright color, beautiful presentation, durability and strong ethnic styles.

　　It features gorgeous colors and patterns, which use rare animals, flowers and geometrical forms as design themes. Each of these patterns has its implications and hidden meaning. For example, red and green sarong shows Dai people' s commemoration of their ancestors, a peacock pat­tern indicates auspiciousness, and an elephant symbolizes a bumper harvest.
