According to the tradition of Manchu people, hunters always wore leather bags containing food around the waist, when they went for hunting on long journey. Later, following the tradition of Han people, they began to make small articles hanging round two side of the belt such as: small bag, fragrant bag, "dalian"(long and rectangular bag sewn up at both ends with an opening in the middle), fire sickle bagand fan case, and so forth. In the meantime, on the buttons of Manchu women hanged the small articles like the covers of glasses, cards or watches.
