The North China Daily News Building - built in 1921, (No. 17, The Bund)

 

 

The construction was set up in 1921 and formerly known as the building of" North China Daily News" which was the biggest foreign news publishing company in Shanghai at that time. It was named Guililn Building till in 1998 when American International Assurance Co. Ltd. settled there. It is a modern construction under Renaissance style and the elevation is divided into three parts horizontally. The lower part is faced with huge stone blocks, the middle part cemented and the upper part installed with columns protecting inner verandas.
