Address: No. 333 Tongren Road, Jing'an District
Built in 1937, the Green House is honored as the No. 1 luxury residence in the Far East. It used to be the Residence of Wu Tongwen. The elderly Shanghai people refer the house as the "Green House" for its green-tile external walls. It is also the prototype of the "Blue House" in the Shanghai writer Cheng Naishan's novel.
Covering an area of more than 500 square meters, the Green House is the well-known Hungarian Designer Ladislav Hudec's works in his peak period and also the last piece during his 20-year life in the city. It is worth mentioning that the modern house is the first private residence with small-scale elevator in Shanghai and till now the old elevator can safely work.
Today the "Green house" is used by the Shanghai Urban Planning and Design Research Institute; it was open for public for the first time on June 14, 2014, China's ninth Cultural Heritage Day.
