Address: No. 137 Wutong Road, Huangpu District
In Shanghai, some of the celebrities' residences in Ming and Qing Dynasty are quite beautiful, but most of them have vanished without a trace, or partially retained.
Shichun Hall, hidden in the old downtown area, was part of the Former Residence of Pan'en who was a Shanghai-born minister in Ming Dynasty. The well-known Yuyuan Garden was built by Pan's son.
In 1640 the hall was rebuilt to be the earliest Catholic Church in Shanghai and was renamed Jingyi Hall. The Chinese style architecture now houses a school gym.
Until now the whole framework of Shichun Hall has been well preserved. And ancient buildings like this are few in number in Shanghai.
