The scalene-shaped Shanghai Swimming Pool with exterior glass curtain is deemed as a great innovation upon its construction. To the pride of Shanghai, it is also listed by World Architecture History published in UK as one of the apotheoses of global architecture works in human history.

Shanghai Swimming Pool occupies an area of 15,827 square meters and its main swimming hall is 6177 square meters, including competition pool, diving pool and training pool. Half of the competition area is reconstructed and converted into a shallow pool for the use of up to 300 people, and half is maintained to meet various requirements. All the facilities in Shanghai Swimming Pool are of international technique and standard, ensuring both domestic and international swimming, diving, water polo, water ballet and fin swimming training and competitions.

Having hosted a lot of international and domestic significant competitions, Shanghai Swimming Pool has been the main training base of Shanghai water sports teams for many years. It nurtured world champions like Zhuang Yong, Yang Wenyi, Le Jingyi, Shen Jianqiang, Jiang Chengji, Wu Minxia, Wang Tianling, etc, and witnessed their record-breaking performances.
