The deeply moving film is based on the 1976 Tangshan earthquake that claimed 240,000 lives in only 23 seconds. Twins, a boy and a girl, who survived but were separated by the quake, were still caught in an emotional dilemma 32 years after the disaster. Directed by Feng Xiaogang, one of the most famous Chinese directors, the film stars some of the best-known actors and actresses in China. The film focuses on the post-traumatic stress and long-lasting pain caused by the earthquake. The film is shocking and deeply moving. Viewers should take several handkerchiefs because there will be lots of tears.
