When the dusk comes, the yard, located at Renmin Road No. 347, North District of Qingdao city, east China’s Shandong Province, has already been very quiet. Old machines which produce honeycomb briquettes just stop running, and workers finish their work and smoke cigarettes waiting for supper…If it dates back to over ten years ago, workers in the yard would be busy working till the midnight. The honeycomb briquette once was the necessary fuel for cooking and heating in people’s daily life in Qingdao. However, heating by honeycomb briquette almost has been replaced by central heating system nowadays, resulting in the dramatic reduction of the number of honeycomb briquette factories in Qingdao.
