The installation 1999 by Liu Ding is the most attractive artwork on the exhibition as it occupies the largest area and involves the most people for an interaction.  

The minute you pick up one of the dozens of lined-up telephones, you will immediately hear recorded quotes and pop music of the 1990s. The quotes are both texts written by Liu Ding or excerpts taken from interviews Liu Ding conducted with Chinese artists and critics active in the 1990s.

With 1999, Liu Ding hopes to provide an account of the Chinese art world in the 1990s as he has observed and experienced. (Eastday/Jiang Wenran)
