Real-life invisibility cloak may be 5 to 10 years away: Berkeley Lab

The image provided by Xiang Zhang group of Berkeley Lab shows a 3-D illustration of a metasurface skin cloak made from an ultrathin layer of nanoantennas covering an arbitrarily shaped object. Light reflects off the cloak as if it were reflecting off a flat mirror. A real-life invisibility cloak may be just five to 10 years away, according to researchers who have made a small object of arbitrary shape disappear using an ultra-thin cloak that looks like a coat.
