At least 100 persons including women and children were injured and 200 homes damaged when a storm hit six villages of the northeastern district of Sunamganj in the early hours Saturday.
Of the injured persons, 10 were admitted to the Sunamganj general hospital, according to the official news agency BSS.
The storm lasted for two to three minutes and rendered over 200 families homeless and uprooted innumerable trees.
Two separate teams comprising 12 members each were sent by the local government to the affected areas to assess the extent of damage. Besides, necessary medicines and doctors were also sent with the teams to provide emergency treatment to the injured ones.
The emergency relief camp would be opened for the homeless people and hard cash would also be given along with other relief materials.
