Long Yongtu refutes view of energy crisis

Secretary General of Bo'ao Forum for Asia (BFA) Long Yongtu on Saturday expressed in Tehran his disagreement to the view that the world is facing energy crisis.

"I do not agree with the view that we are facing energy crisis. To put it more accurate, I'd like to pick the word of 'challenge'," Long said at the opening ceremony of Bo'ao Energy Forum for Asia.

"Crisis makes people perplexed and unconscious of the reaction, but challenge is believed to be met with unified efforts among nations and enterprises," Long said.

The secretary general also urged the Asian countries to strengthen their cooperation to achieve a "win-win" result when meeting the challenge in energy supply.

"There is a solid foundation for energy cooperation among Asian countries," he said.

Long Yongtu noted that the energy resources are far from being sparse, let alone modern science and technology are promoting new types of energy resources.

Nations are increasingly willing to cooperate in the field of energy, and Asian countries and peoples are more and more conscious of their mutual interests in this area, Long stressed, adding that this fact provides the long-term foundation of cooperation.

"BFA has an eternal mission of seeking Win-win in Asia," Long concluded.

Bo'ao Energy Forum for Asia kicked off Saturday in Tehran. More than 300 delegates from Asia and the rest of the world participated in the forum.
