Secretary of the Chinese Olympic Committee Gu Yaoming has warned Chinese players not to get excited too early to avoid injury or failure.
He said in Athens that the Olympic Games had attracted great attention home and abroad, reported CRI online Wednesday.
But due to lack of experience, some of them became too excited or nervous before the games begin, others even got injured. For example, one of the top players in the women's volleyball team Zhao Ruirui's recent injury gave the whole team a blow. He warned such things should be avoided.
Gu Yaoming said that since 2008 Olympic Games will be held in Beijing in the near future, the Athens Olympic Games is under unprecedented attention. The young athletes who are majority of the delegation shoulder double tasks, one is to do a good job, and the other is to prepare for the 2008 Olympic Games.
He noted that there are more pressure from the Olympic Games than that from any other competition. Excitement and nervousness are one of the main reasons for the injury in the exercises recently.
He called for sober-minded attitude, adding that the players should get excited when the competitions begin in order to gain good results.
